kids clothes – getting it right and the gorgeous GRO collection

Have you ever wished you could trade in your wardrobe for it’s combined cost and start over?

I’ve even day-dreamed about doing this to the boy’s overstuffed drawers – he seems to end up with heaps of high street stuff that mostly fits and sort of matches.

It’s so easy to fall into the habit of picking bits up here-and-there, depending on the weather, and whether they’ve grown all of sudden, again! Then there’s with no spend left for stand out pieces (like Mini Rodini prints), which I come across too late, post-primark-panic.

With a clear look in mind, it’s possible to put together a wardrobe of wearable kit that works hard to provide good value for money – it’s worth spending more on fewer things that match up, that you both love and that will be worn to within the inch.

Unless you’re lucky enough to live in Copenhagen – the kids fashion capital, you’ll have to go online to get the good stuff. The Little Fashion Gallery stocks basically everyone, and offer free exchanges and returns to keep shipping costs down – so you can order several sizes to get the right fit, and bundle the rest back. Brilliant!

They also have an online style guide and magazine. If you find a brand you like, check out their home page to see the whole collection and get a feel for what’ll work well together to make your mini look mint. Once you’ve got a look in mind, you’ll be able to pick out the key pieces and find similar things on the highstreet too – making sure every penny is spent on something worthwhile.

My mini go-to guide has gotta be the GRO collection 2011/12- another delightful Danish offering, and I’m hoping fellow Scandinavian high-street super-brand H&M will have similar stuff in stores. Here’s what I’m loving… (also love the PopUpShop lookbook here)
